A decent, or perhaps even better start for a season considering the trauma many FBB players probably still suffer from our last visit in the 5th. The start of the first game wasn’t so good, though, as Reapers scored within a minute from their third shot. Despite the good efforts, we didn’t manage to score until the very end of the second period, which was frustrating as the more the game advanced, the better it was under our control. What was also frustrating was the fact we shot like hell, hit the bar, post, keeper’s helmet and who knows what, but nothing went in. And when we finally scored, Reapers Crew always scored again right after our goal. For some reason, however, they basically stopped playing in the third period thus giving us lots of room to move the ball. Even after Jani G’s ”impossible shot” to the upper corner of the upper corner that won the game for us, Reapers continued to play very passively. Only in the last minute they could put the game to our end, but Jani N’s mask was the closest they could get.

The second game against EST was expected to be far more difficult, and so it was. EST didn’t have any ”stars” in their team, but their performance was very solid throughout the game not leaving much room for us, especially in their end. However, they didn’t play very fast in our end either, but concentrated on moving the ball around pass after pass thus possessing the ball most of the time. From goalkeeper’s point of view this playing style is very tiresome, as one needs to move constantly but shots just won’t come. And when they did, they were generally of good quality. Luckily our defending was very good, and it is well possible that at least Wolf actually saved more shots than Jani N. on the goal. We even killed two simultaneous penalties with zero shots on goal from EST’s side! Considering all this it was sad to lose the game, as we had just managed to equalize when EST got their fourth and final power play, and their winning goal was an unlucky bounce with no one time to react to it.

All in all, it was nice to see that we should have no problems to cope with the 5th division teams if we play like we played on Saturday. It also seemed that there also other not-so-hard teams in our group, so it should be an interesting season ahead!
