Here are results from yesterdays tournament:

FBB – EST 2-8

No penalties!

In our first game we did face EST. We had good line-up for this tournament, but sadly goalie Jani could not make it first game so we had to play with our back up goalie. Rumors from the rink told us that they where really fired up for this game because we where only one point behind them in the standings. And from the start EST did show us why they are one of the best teams in our division and almost got promoted 4th division last year. Like in our last tournament in Tuusula I think we where not ready to play in our first games first period. EST had strong start and after 2 min and 37 seconds they had already got penalty shot which was saved by goal post. But after that it took only couple of minutes them to score games first goal and they won first period 3-0.

Sadly they also had good start for second period and scored two goals in 2 min and 30 seconds and game was 5-0. To credit our players we didn’t give up and we did battle hard till the end. In third period we did managed score twice and couple of times we did pull our goalie and played with 6 field players trying to get some goals. But all credit to EST because they where better team.

This EST game was similar than the practice game against Cuba Boys. I think in both teams have been same level in skill but the difference has been in their team play and defending. With our current training policy we can be good 5 th diviosn floorball team but if we want to be on top of the table it would require practice. Opening passes, forecheck, power play, shorthanded situations, free strokes etc.

Our second game was against Oskarin Arki. Luckily we got our number one goalie for this game. This time we had good start for the game and we took the lead after 4 minutes of play when Jeetu scored. But Oskarin Arki was persistent team whole game and managed tie the game 5 minutes later.

In start of the second period Oskarin Arki managed first tie the game and then took lead in 20 seconds. But it only took FBB 5 minutes first to tie the game and minute after that we where back in the lead. Even though FBB was bit stronger team we where bit unlucky with our scoring chances and we did hit the goal post 5-6 times. This ment that game was close whole time and Oskarin Arki was in striking distance. In third period both teams managed scored once. As coach I was very happy how we did play the last minutes of the third period. They where pushing hard but we managed to control the ball so they could not pull their goalie.

So, now the season is midway. So far the season has gone better than we expected and at the moment we are 4th in our division. Our first goal for this season was to have at least 5 wins and now we have 6. Our objectives for rest of the season are secure 5th division spot and win more games than lose are also still possible. Of course team managers are happy that FBB’s vision and mission are also good form meaning that there is good team spirt in the team which is the most important thing for us.

Our next tournament is 19.1. at Campo Center Vantaa. First game starts 15:00. There we will face Reapers Crew and PK Boners. This is maybe the easiest tournament that we will have this season. Boners is in last spot in our division and Reapers Crew is one of this teams that are behind us (at the moment they are 6th). But don’t open your jackets yet because we had tight games against both of those teams. But after this tournament we will have tournament 17.2. which will be though one so getting 4 points from this tournament would be really nice.
