Here are results from our trip to Tuusula:

HV Freeway – FBB 6-4

In our first game we did face HV Freeway that was last in our division. Their problem has been that they haven’t had that many players in tournaments but this time they had two full lines when FBB had only 9 field players and also had to play with our back up goalie. The game started well for FBB and we took the lead after 4 minutes. HV Freeway managed to tie the game three minutes later. To be honest this was not the best game from FBB and we started to be sloppy. At the same time HV Freeway started to realize that they might have chance to took first win of the season and it was maybe the boost which they needed. The game was tight and teams took turns on scoring in first period.

The second period was bad for FBB and we did lost it 0-2. In third FBB was putting lots of pressure and we had lots of good scoring chances. But their goalie was really good (or just had very good game) and we where also bit unlucky with our scoring chances.

Sadly in third we took on penalty and they managed to score on that one. Kind of irritating goal because just seconds before we had good opportinyt score shorthanded goal, but their goalie made save and from that turnaround they had 2 against 4 situation which ended that their player could have good shot from goal scoring area. In the end we did pull goalie and played with 6 field players but it didn’t help.
This was though lose. But we didn’t play well and I think the team that wanted the win more did won.

The second game was against SBS Vantaa III and they where second in our division. Our bald and beautiful coach made some line chances between the games and it seemed to work. Also traditionally when FBB is the underdog we play well and this was one of those times. Whole game the team played solid defence and it felt that our players had competition who blocks the most shots.

Our first period was solid and we won it 3-0. I don’t know did they came to game their jackets open because there was couple of their players who watched our previous game and maybe thought we are not that good.
In second period that started to really put pressure and mid way of they period they managed score two goals in three minutes and score was 2-3. FBB didn’t go panic mood instead we just defended well and also could create good scoring chances.

The third period didn’t start well. We took two 2 minutes penalties in first 5 minutes. This time our penalty kill was working and we managed to kill those penalties and shortly after second penalty was ended Lauri did score goal and that must have hurt in the Vantaa bench. After that they really started run and check with two players. But in this game the whole team was defending really well and they only managed to create couple good scoring chances which our goalie managed to save somehow or with luck. I don’t know who won ”who has most blocked shots” competition but I think Wolfi, Clasu and Paavo are always good bets in this race. Also I have to mention that JaniG had yet another solid game as defender.

But victory from Vantaa meant that now we have already 5 wins! That is one more that we had when we last time played 5th division and that was our first team goal for season. Now our objectives are avoid relegation and have more wins than loses. I am not the only one who thinks that season has been going lot better than expected.

Our next tournament is 15.12. at Myllypuro. In that tournament we will face the only team we haven’t faced yet which is Oskarin Arki. Before Tuusulas tournament they where 7th in our division. It seems that they are same level than Hauki, PK Boners and Rapers Crew. But they did won UTu 8-4 in Espoo where we won UTu 3-2 so they can be though. The other game is against EST which we did face in our second game in our first tournament of this season . Yes, season will be then already in midway. We did lose them 1-2 and it was that game where they did score game winning goal late in third period. EST has been 1-3 spots in standings since then and I think they are one of the top teams from our group. But I always felt after our match that we can beat them so I hope we will have good line-up for the game when we go to pay some fish debts!
